Annie Mae Eley

Annie Mae Eley, 86 of Centerbrooke Lane, Suffolk, VA transitioned Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Riverside Medical Center, Newport News, VA. She was a native of South Carolina and the daughter of the late Wade and Melvina Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Eley, Sr.; brother, Delane Brown; and a special cousin, Juanita Sparkman. She retired from Norfolk General Hospital (Sentara) and Planters Peanut Company. Ms. Eley was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir and Usher Board. She leaves to cherish her memory nine daughters, LaVonne Eley, Marcella Eley, Denise Eley, Deborah Earnest, Lisa Lopez (Rafael), Suzette Eley, Anjeanette Wagner, Carla Watford (Jerome) and Jennifer Eley; one son, Ernest Eley, Jr. (Stacy); seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Johnson and Orma Jean Blunt (Robert); two brothers, Harold Brown (Joann) and Silas Brown; special friends, Margaret Colander and Janice Harper; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Daniel House, Jr. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, May 27, 4 – 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home.
