Latoya Correll Savage

Latoya Correll Savage,39, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born on February 27, 1977 in Suffolk, VA to Loretta Joyner-Wilson and the late James Savage. She was a 1996 graduate of Nansemond River High School. She received further studies at P.D. Pruden Vocational Center for C.N.A. and a certificate from S.T.O.P Organization for Pharmacy Tech. She was preceded in death by her father James Savage and step-father Willie Wilson, Jr. Latoya leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ja'brell and Juneela Beamon, mother, Loretta J. Wilson; sister, Alberta L. Kenny of Suffolk, VA; step-brother, Willie T. Brimage (Natalie) of Bowie, MD; maternal grandmother, Helena S. Joyner; eleven aunts; nine uncles and a host of cousins and friends.Latoya enjoyed singing in the choir and spending time with her family. She was a very proud and supportive mother, whom enjoyed being a mom. Latoya was a very free hearted, free-spirited young lady who always helped others in need even allowing them to live in her home. For many of the children in her neighborhood, she was like a second mother bringing them to church on Sundays, providing a safe environment for them to hang out and feeding them while they were there.Latoya will be missed for her big cheesy smile, laughter, singing, jokes, cooking, love of life, family and friends.Latoya also had a special auntie, Annie Savage (Lou) in which she cherished until her passing in 2007; She also had two special friends Shevita Woodson and Lavonda Harris.A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Metropolitan Baptist Church 125 County Street.
