Rendy Veal

January 20, 1941 — April 19, 2016

During the evening hours of April 19, the Angel of the Lord softly called our beloved mother, Rendy C. Veal, home. She is resting now.Rendy was born on January 20, 1941, in Nansemond County to the late James Chapman and Geneva Lloyd. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Veal; three sisters, Edna Knight, Nelt Eason, and Marion Chapman; and two brothers, Willie and Lewis Chapman.Rendy retired as a supervisor from Portsmouth Parks and Recreation with over 15 years of serviceRendy was a matriarch in her community. She loved sports: baseball, fishing, football, and wrestling. Her favorite NFL Football team was the Dallas Cowboys.Rendy was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, sister and friend. She was a God-loving woman and spent a great deal of her time being a witness for Christ.Rendy was a member of Greater Faith Worship Center. She served as the mother of the church and on the Missionary board.Rendy leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Renee Boone (Alan) and Yvonne Moore (Michael); nine grandchildren, Suvious Bland, Jr. Darius A. Boone, Alan L. Boone, Jr., Rakeem O. Boone, Dennis J. Boone, James Scott, III (Jessica), Eric Scott (Sarah), Rendy Scott, and Cheryl Moore; twelve great-grandchildren, Suvonye Bland, Renee Bland, Darius A. Boone, Jr., KaDaria Boone, Tarik Scott, Yvonne Scott, Jacqueline Scott, Nevaeh Scott, Sonny Pitt, Nahijiana Scott, Aubruel Scott, and Quamir Scott; four sisters, Luetta Johnson (Charles), Rosa Silvers (Wardell), Alice Mitchell (William), and Loretta Simmons, all of Suffolk; three brothers, Henry Chapman (Darlene), of Suffolk, VA; Hurley Chapman of Newport News, VA; and Edward Chapman of Syracuse, NY. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; devoted friends, Ms. Carrie Howard, Ms. Mozzelle Cowling, Ms. Martha Eason (Tootie), Mrs. Christine Edwards, Ms. Martha Collins, and Mr. Haywood Robinson.A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Tabernacle Baptist Outreach Church. She will be laid to rest in Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
