Gregory Sykes

Gregory Sanford Sykes, 59, of 209 Archer Ave., Colonial Heights, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at his residence. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of Lillian Sykes-Maddrey and the late Elder Sanford T. Sykes. He attended John Yeates High School. Gregory retired from Amazon Inc. of Chester and Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of New Mount Joy Food For Living Ministry. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Lillian Sykes Maddrey, of Suffolk; devoted friend, Wilma Hill, of Colonial Heights; two sons, Gregory Sanford Sykes Jr. and Kevin Lamont Sykes, both of Suffolk; four grandchildren; one brother, Timothy D. Sykes (Marion), of Suffolk; two aunts, Lottie F. Smallwood (Linwood) and Laura Goodman (Raymond), both of Suffolk; other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at noon Monday, March 7, 2016, at New Mt. Joy Food For Living Ministries officiated by Bishop Viola Parker. Interment will be in Albert G.
