LaVerne Saunders Flythe, 63, of Suffolk, VA passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Obici Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of Helen Skinner and the late Walter Perry Sr. She was preceded in death by her son Dameyon P. Flythe. She was a member of Faith Temple Ministries, where she served as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Women’s President and Choir Member. She was a lifetime member of the Pilot Club International, 10 year volunteer at the Obici Hospital Oncology Ward and worked on the Suffolk Clean Committee. She founded The Friends Christian Club Inc., served as President of the Parents of Murdered Children Suffolk Chapter and was a national prison ministry ambassador, advocating for soon to be released inmates. She leaves to cherish her husband of 45 years, William M. Flythe Sr., three sons William M. Flythe Jr., Darrell O. Flythe, Wilvern M. Flythe, two daughters Lorraine Davis and Angela Flythe, five sisters, Lorraine S. Hoskie, Linda S. Wright (Alfred), Gloria Schuler- Kump (Douglas), Esther Perry and Wanda Johnson; five brothers Larry Skinner (Avon),Willie L. Skinner A.K.A Jason L. Graves (Allison), Walter Perry Jr., Vernon Perry and Quinton Perry (Mildred); Step Mother Nellie Perry, four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries. She will be laid to rest in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
