Leland Pierce

Leland Purcell Pierce, 71, of 506 Riddick Circle transitioned Friday, January 8, 2016 at Kindred Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center-Nansemond Pointe. He is the son of the late Irene T.W. Pierce and Leland W.T. Pierce. He was a graduate of Richmond Hills High School, New York. Leland signed as a free agent for the Washington Red Skins in 1972. He was a graduate of Virginia Union University with a B.S in Business Administration. He is also a retired Police Officer for the Norfolk Naval Base Police Force. Leland was a member of First Baptist Church Mahan Street where he was in the Male Choir. He joined the American Legion in 2000 and the National Free Masons in January 2006. He leaves to cherish his memory his aunt, Erma P. Lineburger of Glen Allen, VA; two sisters, Sandra Pierce of Suffolk and Linda P. Adamson of Richmond, VA; two nieces Norma Adamson, Richmond, VA and LaTonya Brown of Suffolk, Virginia; Great Nephew, Savion L.E. Adamson of Richmond, VA; three great nieces, Faith L.E. Adamson, Richmond, LaToya Brown and LaVonne Brown both of Suffolk, VA and a host of loving cousins. A Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 in the Melvin J. Blowe Memorial Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
