Henry T. Lowther (Teenie Weenie), 67, of Pineview Road, Suffolk, departed this life on December 12, 2015 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was born September 1, 1948 in Nansemond County to the late Ella Louise Wilson. He was also predeceased by one brother: Michael D. Wilson. He attended Nansemond County Training School, Southwestern High School, and Paul D. Camp Community College. A U.S. Army Veteran, he served during the Vietnam War. During his military service, he was wounded in combat and received The Purple Heart. He also received: The Air Medal, Bronze Star, and Combat infantryman Badge. After an honorable discharge, he went to work at the Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility, where he worked for 8 years. He also worked for the City of Suffolk Parks and Recreation Department. He also was a founder of the Holy Neck Demons Softball team. He was a member of the Suffolk Chapter 5 Disable American Veterans. He served several terms as Commander and Service Officer as well. At an early age, he joined Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ. Later in life, he became a Trustee. He was an active member until his health began to fail He had a giving spirit and a passion for automobiles, whether it was buying or selling them. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years: Irene H. Lowther; two sons: Lakeith D. Lowther and LeKen D. Lowther, both of Suffolk, Virginia; one god-daughter: Tonya Whitley (Chorey); one sister: Gaynell Almond (Larry); two brothers: Lee A. Wilson of Franklin, Virginia and Stanley P. Wilson; two uncles: Rolenzia Lowther and Albert Lowther (Gladys) both of Suffolk, Virginia; one aunt: Hazel Lowther. One sister-in-law, Eva White (Joe); one brother-in-law Thurman Langston; Two special great-niece’s who were his little princesses: Nyima Wiggins and Gracyn Inman of Atlanta, Georgia; devoted cousins who assisted him during his illness: Patricia Riddick, Linda Wiggins, Annette Chamblee, Alton Collins and William Howell all of Suffolk, Virginia; his best friend Donald Howell of Suffolk, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Corinth Chapel. He will be laid to rest in Howell Family Cemetery.
