Joyce A. Porter

Joyce Ann Porter, 55, daughter of Odell Porter and Willis Sykes transitioned on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Franklin, Virginia and attended Suffolk Public Schools. She was a member of Faith Temple Apostolic Church. She was preceded in death by her father Willis Sykes and brother, Norman Sykes.  She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Odell Porter; two daughters, Nicole Mann and Keria Watson both of Suffolk, VA; three sons, Jaffery L. Porter, Deale Porter and Michael Porter all of Suffolk, VA; four sisters, Shirley Hunter, Martha Armstrong, Felis Sykes and Willie Mae Cook; three brothers, Willis Sykes Jr, Anthony Porter and William Porter, Sr.; twelve grandchildren, Isaiah Porter, Zaniya Slaughter, Amerrika Porter, Da’lajhia Mann, DaMarjay Mann, Darius Major, Jr., Kei’Narie Major, Aiden Carpenter, Tessa Leonard, Tyler Leonard, Rylan Hill and Avianah Carpenter. A celebration of life will be held 12:00 noon Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Faith Temple Apostolic Church 476 Wellons Street, Suffolk. She will be laid to rest in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
