Henrietta Joyner Mason, 87, of 222 Columbus Avenue, Suffolk, Virginia departed this life on December 2, 2015 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was born December 8, 1927 in Southampton County to the late Willie J. and Lucy Massenburg Joyner. She received her early education in the public schools of Southampton County. She was the last surviving of twelve children.
Henrietta retired from Planters Peanuts after 35 years of employment. She was a faithful land devoted member of St. Paul Church for over 67 years. She was the church Mother, a Missionary, and a Sunday school teacher.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband, Jethro W. Mason; son, Jimmie C. Mason; and daughter, Dana P. Mason. She leaves to cherish her memories: a son, Jethro D. Mason (Leandrey); daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Mason; sister-in-law, Ruth Joyner; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Homegoing celebration service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at St. Paul Church, 619 Spruce Street, Suffolk with Dr. Edward Foreman delivering the eulogy. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home, Inc.
