Wilbert “Mookie” Lee Hart, 77, of Suffolk, Virginia was called home on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. He was born August 15, 1938 to the late James and Bertha Hart.
Mookie was preceded in death by his two sisters, Emma Carrington and Dolores Hart; two brothers, James Hart and Elvin Hart.
He obeyed the Gospel and was baptized by Minister Glenn Hitchcock at the Newport News church of Christ Newport News, VA. He was currently a member at the Suffolk church of Christ in Suffolk, Virginia.
He is a native of Edgecombe County, North Carolina and a graduate of I.C. Norcom High School where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He also attended Kentucky University. After 30 years of dedicated service he retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Isadore H. Hart of Suffolk, VA; son, Gary Lee Pitt, of Portsmouth, VA; sister, Pleasant Hart, of Norfolk, VA; two brothers, Willie Hart, Portsmouth, VA and Oscar Hart, of Portsmouth, VA; Aunt, Cherry Savage, of Philadelphia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was an avid supporter of the Washington RedSkins.A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Suffolk church of Christ. He will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery.
