October 1, 1964 — October 12, 2015

On October 12, 2015, Alfred Copeland, Jr. was called home to eternal rest. He was born as the fourth child on October 1, 1964 to the late Alfred Copeland, Sr. & Catherine Copeland. A native of Suffolk, Virginia, Alfred Copeland graduated from Forest Glen High School in 1982. Directly after high school, he served in the United States Army.He worked for many companies in his craftsman career such as Newport News Shipyard and Art Ray Construction Company amongst others. But he took a strong interest in the plumbing field and was a licensed Journeyman. He was know as the Holland Community's very own "Mr. Fix It". A person that could fix anything from water to roofs.Tommy enjoyed being around family. you could find him anytime spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. When he was not having fun and being social he was helping someone with home repairs. Anyone that knew him also knew that he had a passion for cooking. A self-proclaimed chef that could make a meal out of anything.He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Catherine Copeland; two daughters: Martine Parker-Minggia (Terrence) and and Whitney Copeland (from his union with Doris Copeland); a step-son Ridge Byrd; two grandsons, Wayne Thomas Artis, Jr. and Javon Trey Artis; a devoted companion, Catherine W. Jordan and her children to whom he was a father to, Antinio Demany, Clarence Jordan, III, Catherine Douglas, Kathleen Gilchrist and Wanda Lawston; his beloved sisters, Ella Douglas, Mary Harden (Tracy), Cherry Lewis (Melvin), Catherine Jones (William), Deloris Wright (James); a brother, George Taylor; two uncles, Joe Copeland, Sr. (Lena Mae) and Roosevelt Douglas, Jr.; two aunts, Mattie Copeland and Edith Copeland; devoted nieces, Sabrina Sessoms; and a shost of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.A celebration of life will be held 1:00 Monday, October 19, 2015 at Sixth Street Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest in Langston Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
