Rufus L. Artis

Rufus Lee Artis also known as "Pig" entered into eternal rest on September 27, 2015 at Norfolk General Hospital. Rufus was born on September 3, 1952 to the late Rufus Artis and Lula Sessoms of Suffolk, Virginia. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lindell Artis and Robert Sessoms and one sister Linda Artis.He attended Southwestern High School and he loved softball and fishing. In addition he was a hard-working family oriented man.He leaves to cherish his memories forever, his wife Mable Artis; sons Michael Spruill (Audrey) and Rufus Artis; daughter Ava Artis; two sisters, Rosa Artis and Janice White; father-in-law Johnny Spruill, mother-in-law Louise Spruill, sister-in-law Betty; four brothers-in-law Johnny Jr, Mike, Leon and John; 11 grandchildren, a devoted nephew Joseph, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.A celebration of life will be held 12:00 noon Friday, October 2, 2015 in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home.
