Charles Jefferson Trent departed this life Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at home.Charles Jefferson Trent is the fourth of nine children born to the late Samuel R. Trent, Sr. and the late Elizabeth O?Neal Trent in Penhook, Virginia. He was educated in the Franklin County Public School System and graduated from Lee Waid High School in 1961. Following high school, Charles joined the U.S. Air Force and served 5 ½ years. In 1967, he came to Richmond and went to work for the C&P Telephone Company (which became Bell Atlantic and is now Verizon) as a Central Office Technician. He worked hard and got promoted to Supervisor after about 15 years of service.Charles married Greta Burnette Chambers on June 23, 1973, whom he met while working at the Telephone Company. After 30 years, and a lot of planning, he and Greta retired together in 1996.In addition to his loving wife, Greta, Charles is survived by his two sons, Michael V. Chambers and Steven A. Chambers, of whom he is very proud. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Christopher, Rachel and Michelle Chambers; a loving daughter-in-law, Christine Chambers. Charles also has a loving relationship with his surviving siblings, four brothers, Sam, Jr., Jesse, Edward and John Trent; three sisters, Phyllis T. Pearson (James), Mary T. Hancock (William), and Betty T. Hicks (Ernest); He also has one Sister-in-law, Russhelle B. Johnston; one Brother-in-law, Roland R. Burnette, as well as two long time Air Force friends, Mr. Simon Drayton (Frances) and Mr. Lester Gibbs (Lelia); and several loving nieces, nephews and friends.Viewing starts Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with funeral services at 12:00 P.M. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 200 Old Hundred Road, Midlothian, Virginia 23114-7347, Reverend Wayne L. Moody, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.The Guest book at www.legacy.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to National Kidney Foundation of Utah, 3707 North Canyon Road, # 1D, Provo, Utah, 84604.
