George A. JacksonDevoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, George Anderson Jackson endured chronic illnesses over the past several years. Even though he was ill, he fought hard to maintain life while enduring intense pain. George went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.George was born November 24, 1946 in North Wildwood, New Jersey to George and Margaret Jackson. He was the youngest of four children. He attended elementary and high school in the Wildwood Public School System where he developed a love for football. George excelled in football. He graduated and went to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on a full football scholarship, playing all four years. George’s love of football continued for the rest of his life. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. George graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a minor in Biology. While at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, George met and married the love of his life, JoAnn Hicks-Anderson. They returned to Wildwood and started their family.George was employed by New Jersey Natural Gas Company for four years while searching for a job in his field. He then went to work at Manor Woods Academy in Mays Landing, New Jersey, working with youth with intellectual developmental disabilities. George had found his career choice. He finally found his career job at Woodbine Developmental Center. George began his career at Woodbine as a Recreation Aide, advancing to the position of Senior Behavior Modification Technician before retiring after 32 years of service in 2000.George had a lifetime love of music. Taking that love and turning it into a lucrative business, George started his own DJ business “Back in the day Review”, after retiring. He enjoyed sharing his musical collection at weddings, family reunions, church picnics, etc.George and JoAnn moved to Suffolk (Holland) in 2010, where they both joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Mt. Sinai has been a large and very important part of George’s life since the Sunday he joined.George will forever be missed. He leaves behind his loving wife, JoAnn; daughter, Janean Johnson; son, George A. Jackson, Jr.; grandson, Gerald Morgan-Jackson; granddaughter, Makayla and Mariah Johnson; nieces, Arrylee, Francine and Barbara Satterfield, Velma Payne; nephew, David Satterfield; lifelong friends, Earle Moultrie Hunt and Harold Gray; and a host of other family and friends.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church officiated by Rev. William Lang. Interment will be in Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery.
