D’Juan Nathan ScottD’Juan “DJ” Nathan Scott, 14 entered into eternal rest peacefully Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Children’s Hospital of King’s Daughters with his faithful loving Mother by his side. He was born in Nansemond County and the son of Felicia Scott and the late John W. Scott, Sr. He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Scott, Sr.; brother, John W. Scott, Jr.; grandmother, Juanita Brown; grandma & grandfather, Joseph and Louvenia Scott; and uncle, Carlos Brown.He was a 9th grader at Lakeland High School. He was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church where he was in the youth choir, an usher, Men of Action, Boy Scout. “DJ” had many male role models in the Men of Action.He leaves to cherish his love and memory to those who survived him his loving and devoted mother, Felicia Scott who never left his side through his sickness; two sisters, Angela Hill (Raleigh) of Suffolk and Audrey Harris (Kenny) of Clinton, MD; six brothers, Randyll Scott of Suffolk, Donald Scott (Wilemena) of Suffolk, Timothy Scott (Catherine) of Suffolk, Vincent Scott (Monica) of Norfolk, VA, Tracy Scott of Newport News, VA-who was a father figure to his baby brother, Lynwood Scott (Monica) of Suffolk; uncles, Antonio Brown (Terry), Guy Bradley both of Suffolk, Joseph Mazell of Atlanta, GA, Rev. James Scott (Pat) of MD, William Scott (Jeanie) and Jackson Scott (Blondell) both of Newport News, VA; aunts, Denise Washington (Paul) of Washington, D.C., Rumell Brown of Suffolk, Jackie White (Edward) of Hampton, VA, Alma Wooten of MD, Pearline Fulgham of Hobson, Lillie Wellons of Smithfield, VA, Mary Rice of Portsmouth, VA and Margaret Brown of Windsor, VA; godmother, Jane Briggs of Suffolk; godsisters, Selecia McMillian of Suffolk, Melissa Boone of Portsmouth; godbrother, Kevin Williams; special great niece, Solim Kodom of SC who DJ loved and treated as a L’il sister; best friends, Phillip Khodenko of Suffolk, Jayquan Watson of Philadelphia, PA, DeAntonio Turner, Scott Holland of Suffolk; his special coach (L’il League football-Titans), Orlando Turntime (Angie) of Suffolk, Coach Calvin Frazier – (basketball – Pacers); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Metropolitan Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Robert L. Hobbs. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 6 – 7:00 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home, all other times at 703 Eric Court, Suffolk.
