William Alfred Baker, Sr.William Alfred Baker, Sr. 65, of 503 South Main Street, Suffolk, VA died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of Gladys Parker and the late Joseph Parker.He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He retired from the City of Suffolk Fire Department after 27 years.He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Valerie Brown Baker; one son, William Alfred Baker, Jr. (Brittany) of Suffolk; three sisters, Gloria Williams, Linda Parker and Paula Woodly; four brothers, Anthony Jerome Parker, Willie Parker, Clayton Parker and Ganesh Javon Parker; one grandchild, Tyon Amard Baker; aunts, Catherine Skinner (James) and Alma Wright (Raymond); great uncle, Arthur R. White (Georgette); other relatives and many friends.A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 in the Mausoleum at Carver Memorial Cemetery officiated by Rev. Sylvester Silver and Rev. Emanuel Myrick. A visitation with the family will be held from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Crocker Funeral Home.
