Everett, Sr. and Nellie Carter Everett.She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and a member of its Nursing Unit.She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Rufus A. Strothers, Sr. of Portsmouth, VA; one daughter, Sharon T. Jones of Philadelphia, PA; three sons, Thomas P. Jones of Portsmouth, VA, Rufus A. Strothers, Jr. , Rodney L. Strothers (Anessa) and Keith M. Thorne both of Suffolk; two sisters, Marie Henry (Louie) of Avon, IN and Brenda Babb of Suffolk; two brothers, Winfred Carter and James A. Everett (Odell) both of Suffolk; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA officiated by Rev. Dr. William Hampton. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
