Melvin DemielMelvin Demiel, 61, of 925 Brook Ave., died Sunday, July 20, 2014, at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Walter Morris and Elizabeth D. Hall. He was preceded in death by a son, Sherond Demiel; three sisters, Date Copeland, Vernell Outland and Florence Williams.He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. Melvin served in the United States Army for 12 years. He was employed as a custodian with the Suffolk School System.He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Melvin Larry Demiel; five sisters, Beatrice Hunter (Thomas) of Suffolk, Evelyn Copeland, Gloria Nichols (Ronald) all of Suffolk, Marion Rountree (Gary) of Chesapeake, VA, Jane Potts (Jeffrey) of Fredericksburg, VA; three brothers, James Hall (Emma) of Aliquippa, PA, Willie Hall, Jr. of Suffolk, and Kenneth Hall (Denise) of San Antonio, TX; aunts, Esther Knight, Marie Williams, Catherine Demiel, Gracie Demiel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, July 28, 2014 in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at 3472 Jackson Rd. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
