Monitha C. PinkstonMonitha Cheyenne Pinkston was born to the lateThurston M. Walker and Annie Copeland Freeman Taylor on March 9, 1952 in Suffolk, VA. She professed her hope in Christ at an early age. On Saturday, July 26, 2014, the Lord called Cheyenne home to rest. She married John A. Pinkston on November 21, 2014 and relocated to Talbotton, VA. After moving to Georgia, she faithfully attended North Highland Assembly of God in Columbus, GA where she was a member of the Ministry Choir and a Sunday school teacher.Cheyenne graduated from Suffolk High and continued her education at Paul D. Camp College and Phoenix University. She was employed by the Virginia Department of Corrections for over 20 years, retiring as captain. She was later employed as the Elections Supervisor for the Talbot County Board of Commissioners. She was one of two African-Americans to hold this position.Cheyenne’s love of flowers demonstrated her love for life. She loved to help beautiful things grow. The same way she watered her flower beds was the same way she made sure to shower her family and friends with love. The compassionate touch she gave to her plants is the same compassion she gave to the people in her life. She nourished her plants and nurtured her family. The light she brought into our lives helped us to blossom.She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, John A. Pinkston of Talbotton, GA; children, Crystal Lawrence-Bazile (Donald) of Mableton, GA, Williams Andre Lawrence of Richmond, VA, Nekisha Pinkston-Marshall (Lee) of Fairburn, GA, John A. Pinkston Jr. (Amanda) of San Diego, CA and Johnathan Pinkston of Manchester, GA; five grandchildren: Blake Alexander-Donato Bazile, King Mason-Drekar Lawrence, Jazlyn Pinkston, Joh’Niya Pinkston and Serenity Lindsey; two brother: Gerald Freeman of Charoltte, NC and Eugene Taylor (Jackie) of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister: Tellia Walker-Thompson (Cal) of St. Louis, MO; two uncles: Allen Copeland of Portsmouth, VA and Randolph Copeland of Suffolk, VA; three aunts: Gladys Russell and Mamie D. Saunders of Brooklyn, NY and a devoted aunt/mother Barbara Lawyer of Suffolk, VA; two great-uncles: Ralph Saunders and J.T. Saunders of Suffolk, two great-aunts: Dolly Williams of Smithfield, VA and Gladys Herring of Philadelphia, PA; mother-in-law, Annie B. Pinkston of Tablbotton, GA and Jeanette Jackson (Napoleon) of Conyers, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.A funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Mt.
