Wilbert GreeneWilbert J. Greene,71 died Monday, July 28, 2014 at Waverly Health Care Center. He was a native of Southampton County, VA and the son of the late Isaac Wilmore Greene and Rena Idell Greene. He attended Hill School, Southampton County. He retired from the Syracuse Public Works in Syracuse, NY. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ivor, VA. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Hattie Marie Greene; stepson, Mark Joe of Suffolk; three sisters, Florence Lee Nichols (Charlie) of Wakefield, VA, Emma Harris of Gaithersburg, MD, and Gannie Stith of Syracuse, NY; five brothers, Benjamin Greene (Caroline), Jessie Greene both of Syracuse, NY, Washington Greene of Long Island, NY, Thomas Greene (Barbara) of Ivor, VA and Emory Greene (Lucinda) of Drewryville; sisters-in-law, Louise Whitney, Mary Perish, Virginia Ricks, Saddie Joe and Patricia Claiborne, Irene Johnson; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Joe, George Joe III, Charlie Nichols and Clarence Joe; other relatives and friends.A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 10686 Ivor Road, Ivor, VA officiated by Rev. William T. Smith. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Thomas and Barbara Greene, 36148 Broadwater Rd, Ivor, VA.
