Tony Douglas Powell, Sr.Tony Douglas Powell, Sr., 47 of 1712 Pine Acres Lane, Suffolk died Monday, August 18, 2014 in Franklin, VA. He was a native of Southampton County, VA and the son of Hercules Powell and Mary J. Joe-Powell.He attended Tidewater Tech. He was employed as a Bandsaw Operator at Smithfield Packing Meat Company. Besides his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Tawana S. Foster-Powell; three daughters, Lakitia Butt (Earl Jr.) of Franklin, Teonia Ricks both of Franklin and Shaquanda Foster (Pierre) of Suffolk; five sons, Brandon Smith (Tameiko) of Aulander, NC, Avrick Ricks (Reba) of Dreweryville, VA, Tony Powell, Jr., KeMonta Powell, and Quamari Byron all of Suffolk; goddaughter, Honesti Amor James of Sedley, VA; godson, Davaren White of Suffolk; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Ann Kindred (Eric), Annette Williams (Bobby) both of Franklin, VA and Cornelia Seaborne of Sedley, VA; three brothers, Hercules Powell, Jr. of Virginia Beach VA, Kenneth Powell (Deborah) of Zuni, VA and Steve Powell (Adrienne) of Chesapeake, VA; mother-in-law, Connie Pope of Suffolk; a host of other relatives and friends.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Apostolic Faith Church of God, 608 Oak Street, Franklin officiated by Dr. Eugene Austin.
