Joyce J. JohnsonJoyce J. Johnson, 59 of Windsor, VA died Saturday October 25, 2014 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. "Joyce” Janice Uzzle Johnson was born April 9, 1955in Isle of Wight County. She was called home October 25, 2014. Shewas the daughter of the late Lonnie H. Uzzle and Mable C. Uzzle. Joyce attended Isle of Wight County Schools and was currently employed with the school system from April 1994 until her heavenly Father called her home. In her earlier years she loved babysitting the neighborhood children and spending some leisure time drawing and sewing, but in the past few years,she took great pleasure in keeping her two grandsons. Joyce loved her jobs and took great pride in serving.Joyce accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and later joined Chapel Grove United Christian Church where she served faithfully until she began attending Walnut Grove Baptist Church alongside her husband.She was a faithful servant of God, loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother & sister. Joyce leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband of 37 years, James J. Johnson;three daughters, Chanda Johnson (Mario) of Chicago, Sherrell Johnson of Windsor, and Abrea Johnson of Newport News.Two grand children; Nazir and Zakari Johnson. One brother, Jessie Uzzle of Windsor. Four sisters, the late Pauline Kindred of Zuni, Virginia Uzzle of Windsor, Arletta Dixon of Hampton, andCatherine Townes (Leon) of Newport News. One special aunt, Helen Tynes (Georgia) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 at Chapel Grove United Church of Christ, 7366 West Blackwater Road, Windsor, VA officiated by Rev. Raphael Elliott.
