Joseph FaulkJoseph Leon Faulk, 64 of 3708 Mariner Ave., Portsmouth, VA died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at his residence. Joseph Leon Faulk was born to the late Mattie Virginia Faulk and the late Earl Lee Faulk on October 10, 1950. He attended Suffolk City Schools ad worshipped at Piney Grove Baptist Church during his childhood. From John F. Kennedy, Joseph enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps. He fought in the Vietnam War.Once he came home, he traveled and saw many places in the U.S. He made his home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. There he met many people who loved him and gravitated to his fun-loving personality.He rededicated his life to the Lord and became a member of the Grace Mary and Gospel Tabernacle Holiness Churches under the leadership of Bishop Jesse Hanshaw, Elder Jesse Hanshaw, Jr. and Elder Warner West. There, he met and married his wife and was ordained a deacon. He served faithfully and led many souls to the Lord. He was an awesome witness of God’s goodness.In 2003, Joseph moved back to the Hampton Roads area. He helped to take care of his mother until she passed away. He loved his family and friends from the Suffolk community.In his final days, Joseph worshipped at Greater Love Outreach in Portsmouth, Virginia where the pastor is Pastor Raymond Little. There the Pastor and the members lovingly called him Deacon Joe.On Thursday, November 6, 2014 Joseph lost his 7 year battle with cancer. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and loving wife of 37 years, Alice L. Faulk; children, Daveta T. Watson Hargrove (Damien), Demetrius T. Faulk, Travis S. Faulk, Tracy L. Greene (Omar), and Shameka Lewis. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Rubin M. Smith.Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Miles Alexander Faulk, Jirah Cooper, Le’Ren Jones, Xuine’ (pronounced SHWEE-nay) Brionna Smith, Zoe’ Madison Syntelle, Omar K. Greene, Amani Greene; and two grandsons on the way.Also remembering the times they shared are his siblings, Darlene Faulk, Dexter Faulk, Meredith Faulk, and Earl McKinley Faulk; his loving in-laws, David and Evoria Watson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, loved ones and friends. A  funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Piney Grove Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Ramon Little. Interment will be in Albert G.
