Pattie GarrisPattie R. Garris, 78, of 206 Dykes Park Lane, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at her residence. She was native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late Johnnie C. Copeland and Pattie K. Copeland. She was predeceased by her husband, Willie D. Garris; sisters, Mattie Lee Jones, Mae Alice Bland and Irene Copeland; brothers, Walter Copeland and Mack Copeland.She was a 1955 graduate of East Suffolk High School and attended St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville. She retired from the International Paper Company of Nyack, N.Y., and Planters Peanut Company in Suffolk. Pattie was a member of Healing Chapel Baptist Church, where she was the past president of the Senior Choir and organizer of the scholarship fund, and was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Elaine Lee (Clarence), of Suffolk; four brothers, Johnnie C. Copeland Jr., Leon Copeland (Mary), Richard Copeland (Barbara), and Alvin Copeland (Jacquelyn), all of Suffolk; one sister-in-law, Laura Copeland, of Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.The family will receive guests at Crocker Funeral Home Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, from 6 to 7 p.m.A celebration of life will be held at noon, Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at Healing Chapel Baptist Church officiated by the Rev.
