Calvin T. FeltonCalvin T. Felton, age 56, a resident of Athens, Tenn., died Dec. 13, 2014, in Athens. Our beloved, husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Calvin Terrance Felton, 56, journey of life peacefully ended on Saturday, December 13, 2014, in Newnan, Georgia.Known affectionately to family and friends as Terry, was born to the union of Calvin and Katie Felton on July 7, 1958 in Suffolk, VA. Calvin accepted Christ at a young age and became a devoted leader in the church community and a spiritual inspiration and mentor to those who knew him.He was a 1976 graduate of John Yeates High School and a 1981 graduate of Hampton University with a major in Biology. Having a true love for sports, he played football in high school and was captain of the football team at Hampton University. While attending college, Calvin pledged Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., Gamma Omega Chapter. Calvin and family relocated to Athens, Tennessee 30 years ago when he accepted a position with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). During his employment at TVA he received several promotions and was currently a Health Physicist Supervisor. Calvin joined Overcoming Faith Christian Center more than 25 years ago and served faithfully as drummer, Deacon, Director of Children’s Ministry and assisted in the Phase II Ministry. He was a man who loved the Lord and that Joy was felt while in his presence.He leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted and loving wife of 34 years, Cressandra Everett Felton; two daughters, Shernita and Crystal Felton, Athens, TN; his parents, Calvin and Katie Felton of Suffolk, VA; two loving granddaughters, Karena and Arlana, Athens, TN; two brothers, Warren and Timothy Felton (Tara) of Richmond, VA; sister Patty (Ambrose) of Miami, FL; nine sister-in-laws, Veta Cowling, Vanessa Newsome, Yvette Artis, Velma Taylor, Frances E. Cohen, Sharon Everett Harding, Audrey Edwards and Delphine Taylor; six brother-in-laws, Raymond Edwards, Vincent Cowlings, Elvin Artis, Richard Cohen and Ronald Harding; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Crocker Funeral Home Chapel.
