David DiggsDavid Diggs, 58 of 1212 Louisa Avenue, Portsmouth, Virginia died Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk, VA. David Diggs was born February 26, 1956 to the late Hattie G.Reid and Major Diggs. He departed this earthy life into eternal rest on December 17, 2014. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Norman H. Reid.David attended Suffolk High School and retired from Suffolk Public Schools in 1997 as head custodian for 19 years. He was a member of Macedonia AME Church. David, also known as “Pete”, was a diehard Oakland Raiders fan. No matter how bad the team was he would talk about that one Super Bowl win. He loved to joke and never wanted to miss his walking on the treadmill. The most important of all was his car the “Oakland Raiders car.” He was loved by many and will sadly be missed by all.He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Chiquita M. Diggs of Portsmouth, VA; two sons, Christopher Watkins of Raleigh, NC and David Diggs Jr. of Chesapeake, VA; one stepdaughter, Eurkia Gray Ruffin of Suffolk, VA; a sister, Linda Hill (Paul) of Suffolk, VA; four brothers, Calvin Gibson of Philadelphia, PA, Vernon Gibson (Belinda) of Newport News, VA, Daniel Gibson and Eugene Larry Gibson (Jessica) of Suffolk, VA; sisters-in-law, Linda D. Gray and Stephanie Powell (Larry) of Suffolk, VA; aunts, Ruth Holland of Hampton, VA, Marie Daniels and Mary Alice Daniels of Suffolk; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; two step-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at Macedonia AME Church officiated by Pastor Derrell Wade.
