Bishop Dwight Lee WhitfieldBishop Dwight L. Whitfield, 60, of 312 Greenfield Crescent, Suffolk, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, in Sentara Obici Hospital.Bishop Whitfield was born in Suffolk, VA on October 13, 1954 and was the son of the late Lee Earnest and Lillie Whitfield. He worked for Planters Peanut Company for 21 years as a Machine Operator. He was the founder and pastor of Total Transformation House of Praise and the presiding prelate of the Pentecostal Churches of Christ Holiness. He was educated in the Suffolk Public School System and attended the Rhema Bible Seminary in North Carolina. He was a graduate of the Roanoke Theological Seminary in Elizabeth City, NC where he received a Bachelor’s of Divinity Degree. Bishop Whitfield was the First Administrative Assistant with the Greater Tidewater Fellowship of Churches of Hampton Roads. Bishop Whitfield was a member of the Hampton Roads Ecumenical Council of Bishops (HRECB) and Suffolk Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (SIMA) in Virginia. He is the founder of Youth Under Christian Covering Association (YUCCA), Golden Eagles Ministries (GEM), and the Pentecostal Churches of Christ Holiness School of Ministry (PCOCH SOM). He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 33 years, Glendell P. Whitfield; his daughters, Leonna Whitfield, Lacoya Whitfield, Tanesha Whitfield; his brothers, Terence Whitfield (Melody), Torie Whitfield; his sister, Gail Smith (Ricky), Sandra Mann (Bernard), Sawana Goodman (Eric); aunts, Bertha White, Peggy Baker, and Mildred Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.A celebration of life service will be held Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at 6 p.m. at Tabernacle Christian Church. A funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at 12 noon at Tabernacle Christian Church. Entombment at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family is receiving guests at 312 Greenfield Crescent.
