Melvin Junious Butler Sr.Melvin “Poppa” J. Butler, Sr. 60 of 7440 Firetower Road, Zuni, VA died Saturday, January 31, 2015 at MCV Hospital in Richmond, VA. He was a native of Isle of Wight County, VA and the son of the late Mable C. Butler and Isaac W. Butler.He retired from Suffolk Public Schools. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Curlette D. Simmons of Surry, VA and Kendra A. Butler of Smithfield, VA; one son, Melvin J. Butler, Jr. of Smithfield, VA; two sisters, Thelma Saunders and Romine Warren (Edwin) both of Zuni, VA; three brothers, James Butler (Juanita) of Virginia Beach, VA, Joe Butler (Frances) of Zuni, VA and Willie Paul Butler of Maryland; special friend, Sonja Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.A funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ivor, VA officiated by Pastor W. T. Smith. A wake will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 from 6 – 8:00 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Ebenezer Church Cemetery.
