Haywood Lee JonesOn May 12 2015 an Angel blew his horn and whispered to Haywood Lee Jones at Kindred HealthCare and said “Haywood, you have been blessed with your wings, for a job well done.”A Time To Be born:Haywood Lee Jones was born April 19, 1933 in the former Nansemond County which is now the City of Suffolk, to the late Lee and Veoma Jones. Proceeding him in death were his brother, Edward Lee Jones and his sisters, Louise Bussey Smith and Lorraine Mayfield.A Time To Grow:He attended the Nansemond County Training School. He married the late Julia Grace Williams. He then later united with Pearlie Mae Scott. From these union, he was blessed with six children. He chose to follow in the footsteps of his father and became a farmer. He was a part-time school bus driver. Haywood was a member of Holland Lodge #256 for 52 years.A Time To Worship:He joined Corinth Chapel Congregational Christian Church (now Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ) early in childhood. Later in life he joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served on the senior usher board until he was unable to serve.A Time to Mourn:Cherishing his memory are daughters, Rita Jones-Franklin (Eugene) of Brooklyn, NY, Sylvia A. Lawrence (Haywood) of Franklin, VA, and Annette Baytop (Cornelius) of Suffolk; sons, Reginald Jones (Donna) of Randallstown, MD, George Jones (Gail) and Al Q. Jones (Kathy) of Suffolk; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; a devoted and loving sister, Maye Jones; one aunt, Adele Wilson both of Philadelphia, PA; devoted and faithful friends, James Waymond Brown, and Rolenzie Dick Lowther; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.FUNERAL:A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Corinth Chapel Church officiated by Rev. L. Stephon Johnson. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 15. Interment will be in Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
