Virgie M. BarnesVirgie Mae Barnes, 91, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 22, 2015. She was born in Suffolk, VA, January 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Novela Brown. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest “Ben” Barnes and brother Jessie Brown.She retired from Paterson Nutrition Project for the Elderly. She was an active member of Saint Luke Baptist Church in Paterson, NJ, before retiring and returning to Virginia. She leaves to cherish her memories are her daughter, Bettie Anderson, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.A wake will be Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 5-7p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. A Homegoing service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 at Antioch United Church of Christ, 900 Hull Avenue. She will be entombed at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Portsmouth, VA.
