Ruth E. TwineRuth Eley Twine, 79 of 118 Bute Street, Suffolk, VA died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Sclay Eley and Lottie Eley Wilkins.She was a 1956 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and also attended Norfolk State College (now university). Ruth retired from Pioneer Southern after 35 years. She was a member of Missouri Baptist Church where she was a member of the Missionary Board, Pastor’s Aide Ministry, Senior Usher Board and a former Senior Choir member.She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Hope Davidson (Kevin) of Suffolk, VA; three sons, Michael Eley (Wanda) of Crewe, VA, Hilbert Twine (Dawn Beverly) of Newport News, VA and Christopher Twine of Suffolk, VA; one sister, Janice Ruffin of Suffolk, VA; one brother, James Eley (Betty) of Portsmouth, VA; six grandchildren, Joshua Richardson, Dennis Richardson, Jr., Jasmine Richardson, Tayvon Twine, Tamerah Twine and Chaquan Beverly; adopted grandson, Dominique Bell; special friends, Lecey Hall and Beatrice Ash; other relatives and friends.Special thanks to Alan Bain, nremt-p and Dave Legg, emt-e of the Suffolk Fire and Rescue.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2015 at Saint Paul Baptist Church officiated by Bishop C. V. Russell, III and Pastor Jaimi Russell. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the funeral home.
