Peggy BooneOn Sunday at sunset, Aug. 23, 2015, after suffering a brief illness, Peggy Diggs Boone closed her eyes and departed from this life to be with the Lord. Peggy Eloise Diggs Boone was the daughter of the late James Lee and Lillian Alice Diggs and wife of the late Calvin Boone, of Nansemond County.Peggy was a beloved member of Diamond Grove Baptist Church. Peggy served as a civil service employee in Washington, D.C. She came back to Chuckutuck and got a job as a secretary at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. After leaving NMCP, she worked at Fort Monroe in Hampton up until her retirement in May 2008; she retired as a GS13.She now leaves to cherish fond memories: her two daughters, Chasity Boone and Charity Boone, of Newport News, and one grandson, Di’Andre Boone, of Montgomeryville, Md.; two sisters, Mary Brown (Charles), of Suffolk, Wilma Elbouhnini (Hassan), of Mitchellville, Md., one brother, Benjamin Diggs (Hosanna), of Greensboro, N.C.; sister-in-law, Toni Diggs, of Suffolk, and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Wilson, of Mitchellville, N.J.; three sister-in-laws, Evelyn Simpson, (Roger), of Suffolk, Virginia Small, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mary Francis McCray (Joe), of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers-in-law, Edward Boone, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Raymond Boone, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. She will be dearly missed by all.
